Is there a Rory McIlroy private jet? Press coverage says so: outlets describe him arriving on a Gulfstream G650ER. What none of the coverage we opened gives is a verifiable tail number or a registered owner, and the FAA registry shows no aircraft tied to his name.

That gap matters because the tail number is the main thing readers search for. This page lays out what is reported, why the registry cannot settle it, how tour pros fly between continents, and what a transatlantic private flight costs.

The short answer

Reported, not confirmed. GolfMagic described a Gulfstream G650ER carrying him to Northern Ireland in April 2025, but it does not name its source and gives no registration. We found no US registration in his name, and no reliable source publishes a tail number.

What is reported

GolfMagic wrote on April 18, 2025 that footage had emerged of McIlroy arriving home in Northern Ireland after his Masters win, on what it called a Gulfstream G650ER. It said the jet left Farnborough Airport outside London that morning and landed at Belfast City Airport about an hour later.

The article does not say where the aircraft details came from, and it does not give a registration. A search also turns up many other articles on the same jet, with valuations that range widely, so we do not repeat a price. We are treating the Gulfstream as a media report, not a record.

Why there is no tail number to give

The FAA registry covers aircraft with US N-numbers. On 06/11/2026 we searched it for the name MCILROY and got three owners of small aircraft, none of which we could tie to the golfer.

McIlroy is from Northern Ireland, and an aircraft he uses could be registered outside the US, in the UK, the Isle of Man or elsewhere. The FAA cannot see any of those. Registered owners are also usually companies or trusts, so a search by his name would not find an aircraft held that way even if it were American.

Tracking sites circulate registration numbers for celebrity aircraft, but we could not verify any such number for him against a registry or a named outlet, so we do not print one. For long-range aircraft in this class, see our longest-range private jets ranking.

How tour pros fly between continents

A touring golfer plays on both sides of the Atlantic, often within days. Airlines work but add connections and baggage handling for clubs and gear. Private flying removes both, at a price.

Most professionals do not own the aircraft. Prepaid hours on a card, a fractional share or a chartered trip cover the demand without the crew and hangar costs. We explain the card route in jet card cost.

Our Jordan Spieth private jet page covers another golfer’s record.

What a transatlantic private flight costs

A crossing needs a large-cabin, long-range aircraft, which is the most expensive class to charter by the hour. Price depends on direction, season, tailwinds and whether the aircraft must return empty.

We keep current figures and a worked example in our private jet charter cost guide rather than repeat numbers that go stale.

How we checked

On 06/11/2026 we searched the FAA registry by owner name for MCILROY and reviewed the three results. We read GolfMagic’s April 18, 2025 report and kept only what it states. Reports that give a different Gulfstream model or a price without a source are left out.

The registry cannot show foreign registrations, charters or jet cards. We do not track live aircraft movements. See all our celebrity private jets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Rory McIlroy's private jet tail number?
We cannot confirm one. No reliable source we opened publishes a registration, and the FAA registry showed no aircraft tied to him on 06/11/2026. A jet registered outside the US, or held by a company, would not appear under his name.
Can you track Rory McIlroy's jet?
Not with us. We do not track live aircraft movements, and without a confirmed registration there is no reliable number to follow. Sites that publish positions for celebrity jets often rely on unverified identifications.
What kind of plane does Rory McIlroy have?
GolfMagic described a Gulfstream G650ER in April 2025, but did not name its source or give a registration. We treat that as reported, not confirmed. No registry record we found ties such an aircraft to him.
