Does Lorne Michaels have a private jet? Based on the public record we could check, no aircraft is registered to him or to Broadway Video, the production company behind Saturday Night Live.
That is a narrow finding, and we say so below. Here is what we searched, what the search cannot prove, and what flying privately between New York and Los Angeles costs if you do it yourself.
The short answer
No aircraft turned up under his name or under Broadway Video in the FAA registry on November 6, 2026, and we found no outlet reporting that he owns a jet. That does not prove he has never owned one, because aircraft are often registered through LLCs and trusts.
Does Lorne Michaels Have a Private Jet?
Lorne Michaels created Saturday Night Live and produces it through Broadway Video. He is one of the best-known figures in American television, so the question of how he travels comes up often. The record gives a plain answer to a plain question: we could not find an aircraft that ties to him.
Two things we did not find are worth separating. We found no registered aircraft under his name or his company’s name. We also found no reporting from a named outlet saying he owns, leases or flies a particular jet. Without either, we will not name a model, a tail number or a price, and you should be wary of any page that does.
What a missing record means
An empty search is not proof. Owners with privacy concerns commonly register an aircraft to a limited liability company or a trust, and the registry lists that entity, not the person behind it. The FAA registry is a record of who holds the registration, not a list of who flies on board.
What We Searched
We ran two searches on the FAA aircraft registry on November 6, 2026, using its name inquiry. A search for “MICHAELS LORNE” returned no aircraft. A search for “BROADWAY VIDEO” also returned no aircraft.
We also looked for press reports of an aircraft linked to him and found none from a named outlet. If one exists that we missed, it would need to name the aircraft and the source of the link before we would print it.
Why we do not guess a model
Pages online often list a Gulfstream or a Bombardier Global as the likely choice for a producer at his level. That is speculation. A list of jets a person could afford is not a record of the jet he uses, so we leave it out.
New York to Los Angeles Privately: The Options and Costs
If your own trip is New York to Los Angeles, there are three common ways to fly privately without owning an aircraft, and they price differently.
On-demand charter means you pay for one trip on an aircraft from an operator, and the price depends on the aircraft size, the route and the date. Our private jet charter cost guide breaks down what drives the total, including positioning and fees. A coast-to-coast trip needs an aircraft with enough range to avoid a fuel stop, which usually points to a midsize or larger cabin; see best midsize private jets for how those classes compare.
A jet card sells prepaid flight hours at a fixed rate. It suits people who fly a handful of times a year and want the price set in advance. Our jet card cost guide covers what to look for in the terms.
Semi-private flights sell individual seats on a shared aircraft. They cost less per person than a full charter and give up control of the schedule and the cabin. Our semi-private flights guide explains the trade.
What to ask before you pay
Whichever route you choose, ask for the total including fuel, landing and handling fees and taxes, ask how the quote changes if the schedule moves, and ask which aircraft will actually fly your trip. Wijet is an independent publication, not an operator or a broker, so we do not quote or sell flights ourselves.
How We Checked
We searched the FAA aircraft registry by name for “MICHAELS LORNE” and “BROADWAY VIDEO” on November 6, 2026, and both returned zero aircraft. We then looked for reporting from named outlets that links a specific aircraft to him and found none. Because owners often register through LLCs and trusts, the result shows only that nothing is registered under these names. It does not show how he has traveled.
