Does Joel Osteen have a private jet? We could not find one. The FAA aircraft registry shows no airplane registered to Osteen or to Lakewood Church, and Osteen has said in public that he has never owned a jet.

That is a narrower claim than “he has never flown private,” and we keep the two apart below. This page lays out what the registry shows, what Osteen himself has said, why the rumor keeps circulating, and what a private flight would cost if a pastor or anyone else wanted one.

The short answer

No aircraft registered to Joel Osteen or Lakewood Church turned up in our FAA registry searches on November 6, 2026. Osteen said on the Impaulsive podcast that he has never owned a jet, as reported by ChurchLeaders in April 2026. We cannot rule out charter flights or ownership through an entity we did not search.

What the FAA registry shows, and its limits

The FAA keeps a public database of every aircraft on the U.S. civil register, searchable by owner name. We ran two searches on November 6, 2026.

The first was the surname OSTEEN. It returned four aircraft, all small piston planes: a Cessna 172D, an Aeronca 7AC, an Aeronca 65-CA and a Beech 95-B55. They are registered to four private individuals who share the surname. Nothing in the record links any of them to the pastor, and none of these is a jet.

The second was LAKEWOOD, to catch the church. That search returned six aircraft: a glider owned by a glider club, an Ercoupe owned by a flying club, three Cessna 172s owned by Lakewood Investments LLC, and a Piper J3C owned by an airport center. None of the registrants is Lakewood Church.

What a name search cannot see

Charter flights never appear in the registry, because the operator holds the aircraft, not the passenger. The same goes for fractional shares and jet cards. So the registry can tell you who owns a tail number, not who sat in the cabin on a given trip.

What Osteen has said

In April 2026, ChurchLeaders reported on Osteen’s appearance on the Impaulsive podcast, hosted by Logan Paul and Mike Majlak. According to ChurchLeaders, Osteen said: “I have no yachts. I have no jets.” He went on: “I’ve never owned a jet. I’ve never owned a yacht or, you know, a fleet of cars.”

A denial in an interview is a statement, not a record check. We treat it as one data point that matches what the registry shows, not as proof on its own.

Why the rumor keeps coming back

Part of it is the category. Osteen leads one of the largest churches in the country, and several well-known pastors do have aircraft on the registry. Our own searches turned up these church-registered jets:

  • Eagle Mountain International Church, the church of Kenneth Copeland, is the registered owner of a Gulfstream G-V, tail N1967J, according to FAA records. See our Kenneth Copeland private jet page.
  • Living Word Christian Center in Forest Park, Illinois, the church of Bill Winston, is the registered owner of a 1999 Gulfstream G-IV. See Bill Winston’s private jet.
  • Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, associated with Mac Hammond, is the registered owner of a Dassault Falcon 50. See Mac Hammond’s private jet.

Readers who see that pattern assume it applies to the biggest name of all. The registry does not support that for Osteen.

The second driver is content farms. Pages that name a specific Airbus or Gulfstream and a price for “his” jet usually cite nothing. When we traced the claims, we found no registration number, no news report and no filing behind them. Without a tail number, a jet claim cannot be checked, and we do not repeat it.

What a pastor’s charter flight costs

If you want to know what it takes to fly the way large-ministry leaders do, there are three routes, from cheapest to most expensive: a seat on a shared flight, a chartered whole aircraft, or ownership.

Seats on scheduled semi-private flights are the entry point, and we explain how they work on our semi-private flights page. A full charter of a light or midsize jet prices by the flight hour, plus fees, positioning and taxes; our private jet charter cost guide breaks down what goes into a quote.

Ownership is a different order of spending, and the purchase price is the smaller part. See the cost of owning a private jet for the annual math on crews, hangar space, maintenance and insurance.

How we checked

On November 6, 2026 we searched the FAA aircraft registry by owner name for OSTEEN and for LAKEWOOD, and read the full result lists. We then read ChurchLeaders’ April 2026 report of the Impaulsive interview for Osteen’s own words. We did not rely on content sites that name an aircraft model without a registration number. We cannot see charters, fractional shares or jet cards, and entities registered under other names would not appear in an owner-name search.

If you have a tail number that is documented in a registry filing or a named news outlet, send it to us and we will check it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Joel Osteen own a private jet?
We found no aircraft registered to him or to Lakewood Church in FAA owner searches on November 6, 2026, and ChurchLeaders reported in April 2026 that he said he has never owned a jet. Ownership through an LLC or trust would not show under his name, so this is a record finding, not a guarantee.
How many private jets does Joel Osteen have?
None that we could confirm. Our FAA searches for Osteen and Lakewood returned only small piston planes owned by unrelated people, a glider club, flying clubs and an investment LLC. Osteen has said publicly that he has never owned a jet.
Which pastors do own private jets?
FAA records show a Gulfstream G-V (N1967J) registered to Eagle Mountain International Church, Kenneth Copeland's church, a Gulfstream G-IV (N316VB) registered to Living Word Christian Center in Forest Park, Illinois, Bill Winston's church, and a Falcon 50 (N7LW) registered to Living Word Christian Center in Minnesota, tied to Mac Hammond.
Does Joel Osteen own a yacht?
Aircraft records cannot answer that, and we have no source of our own. ChurchLeaders reported in April 2026 that Osteen said on a podcast he has never owned a yacht.
