The Gulfstream G280 price is reported at $28 million for a new aircraft and $16.1 million for a used one by Private Jet Card Comparisons (read November 2026). For that, you get a super-midsize jet with a maximum range of up to 3,600 nautical miles, a figure AVweb reported when the FAA certified it in 2012.

Gulfstream does not publish a G280 price, and its G280 web page now redirects to the G300 (gulfstream.com, November 2026). Flying reported in September 2025 that the G300 “will replace the G280,” with deliveries targeted for 2027. So every dollar figure below is a reported one, with a source and a year. Treat it as a working range, not a quote. You will also see the specs, what it costs to charter, how the G280 compares with the Challenger 3500 and the Praetor 600, and where it sits in Gulfstream’s line. For the wider segment, start with our guide to the best mid-size private jets.

Gulfstream G280 Price

New Price

Private Jet Card Comparisons lists a new G280 at $28 million and shows it in production since 2012 (read November 2026). AVweb reported a price of about $25 million when the FAA certified the G280 in September 2012. The broker Air Charter Advisors shows a lower MSRP of $24 million on its 2026 page.

A fair reading: about $25 million was the launch-era figure, and $28 million is the current reported list price. Neither is a Gulfstream quote. Your actual number depends on the interior, options and delivery slot, and the G300 changes what a new G280 slot means (see below).

Used Price

Private Jet Card Comparisons shows $16.1 million for a used example (read November 2026). The broker Air Charter Advisors says on its 2026 page that pre-owned G280s “start at around $12 million.” The gap is mostly year and hours: a 2012 aircraft and a recent one are priced very differently.

Listing sites such as Controller.com and GlobalAir.com carry asking prices that move weekly, so check them on the day you shop. For the wider market, Aviation International News reported in April 2026, citing Hagerty Jet Group, that preowned Gulfstream inventory is “low to nonexistent” and pricing has firmed, with the broker adding “Don’t expect any serious discounts in the business jet markets just yet.” That report covered the large-cabin G700 and G800 more than the G280, so use it as a signal of mood, not a G280 price.

The G300

The G300 is Gulfstream’s announced successor to the G280. Gulfstream unveiled it on September 30, 2025, and Flying described it that day as the jet that “will replace the G280,” with deliveries targeted for 2027. AOPA reported that the G280 had reached its 300th delivery in June 2025 and quoted Gulfstream’s Mark Burns on a projected G300 starting price of $28.7 million (2025). FAA certification still lies ahead.

What it changes on paper, per Gulfstream’s G300 page (November 2026): up to 3,600 nm at Mach 0.80 and 3,000 nm at Mach 0.84, seating for up to 10 and two living areas, and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.85, powered by two Honeywell HTF7250G engines. Gulfstream notes all G300 performance is “based on preliminary data and subject to change.” The G300 page lists a finished cabin 6 ft 1 in high and 6 ft 11 in wide, with a cabin length of 27 ft 7 in excluding baggage.

For buyers, the practical effect is simple. The G280 is mature and proven, and the G300 is still a certification project. If you want to fly before G300 deliveries begin, a G280 is the Gulfstream super-midsize you can buy today, most likely used.

Gulfstream G280 Specs

Gulfstream’s G280 page now redirects to the G300, so the table below uses Private Jet Card Comparisons, the broker Air Charter Advisors (both 2026) and AVweb (2012). Where sources conflict, the table says so.

Cabin length is where the sources split, because some include the galley and lavatory and some do not. Ask any seller for the manufacturer’s drawing before you compare cabins.

Range in Practice

Three thousand six hundred nautical miles covers New York to London or Los Angeles to Hawaii with the right load and winds. It does not cover most intercontinental trips without a fuel stop. Range assumes a light passenger load, so a full cabin on a hot day will fly shorter. If distance decides the purchase, the large-cabin aircraft on our Gulfstream G650 price page are a different class of reach.

Running and Charter Cost

Charter per Hour

Most readers will fly a G280 as a charter passenger, not as an owner. The broker Air Charter Advisors estimates $6,800 to $8,800 an hour, based on 2026 market data. The estimate excludes taxes, de-icing, landing and handling fees and other charges, so the bill for a real trip is higher. It is broker marketing, not a quote: route, date and the charter provider all move the price. See our private jet charter cost guide for how those extras add up.

Owning a G280

Gulfstream does not publish an annual operating budget for the G280. Fixed costs such as crew, hangar, insurance and maintenance programs arrive whether the jet flies or not, and depreciation and financing sit on top. For scale, the broker Air Charter Advisors puts the larger G550 at about $1,665,000 a year for 200 flight hours (2026). Our breakdown is in the cost of owning a private jet.

G280 vs Challenger 3500 vs Praetor 600

These are the three jets a G280 buyer actually cross-shops. The figures come from Air Charter Advisors and Private Jet Card Comparisons (both 2026) and are not manufacturer quotes. The Challenger 3500 price is the model-year 2022 MSRP, so it may be out of date.

Verdict: on paper the three are close, and the differences are range, cabin and what each manufacturer will deliver when. The G280 gives the longest stated range of the Gulfstream and Challenger pair, and the Praetor 600 states the most range on one comparison site, though that same page lists two different figures. The Praetor is also available through Flexjet’s fractional program and as a jet card, according to Private Jet Card Comparisons (2026). Questions Buyers Ask

What does a Gulfstream jet cost?
A new Gulfstream runs from about $28 million for a G280 to $78 million for a G700, per the list prices Private Jet Card Comparisons shows (read November 2026). Pre-owned jets cost less: the same source shows $16.1 million for a used G280 and from $28 million for a used G500.
How much is a used Gulfstream G280?
Private Jet Card Comparisons shows $16.1 million for a used example (read November 2026), and the broker Air Charter Advisors says pre-owned G280s start at around $12 million (2026). Age and hours drive the spread, so check live broker listings for an exact figure.
What is the Gulfstream G280 range?
AVweb reported a range of up to 3,600 nautical miles when the FAA certified the aircraft in 2012, and Private Jet Card Comparisons gives 3,590 to 3,600 nautical miles (2026). That is a best-case number with a light load, so expect less with a full cabin.
What is the Gulfstream G300 and what does it cost?
The G300 is Gulfstream's announced successor to the G280, unveiled on September 30, 2025. AOPA quoted a projected starting price of $28.7 million, and Flying reported deliveries targeted for 2027 (both 2025). Gulfstream's page lists up to 3,600 nm of range on preliminary data.
How much does it cost to charter a Gulfstream G280?
Air Charter Advisors estimates $6,800 to $8,800 an hour, based on 2026 market data. The estimate leaves out taxes, de-icing, landing and handling fees, so a real trip costs more and varies by route and charter provider.
