A new private jet costs from about $3.6 million for the single-engine Cirrus Vision Jet to roughly $82 million for a Gulfstream G700, with used jets starting under $2 million. The Vision Jet G3 is the cheapest new jet you can order: AeroTime reported in February 2026 that it carries a base price of around $3.6 million.
Everything in between is a matter of class, age and cabin. Below you get one table of purchase prices by class with a real model for each, what pushes a price up or down, the cheapest and most expensive jets to buy, and where to go if you only want to rent. Treat every figure as a reported price, not a quote: manufacturers rarely publish list prices, and the final invoice depends on the cabin you specify.
Private Jet Prices by Class
The table gives one example per class, with the reported new price and, where a named publication gives one, a used price. Where a cell says “Not published”, no named source puts a figure on it, so none is given.
| Class | Example model | Reported new price | Typical used | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single-engine jet | Cirrus Vision Jet G3 | About $3.6 million base; $3.68 million as equipped | $1.8 million to $3.6 million (2016 to 2025 models) | AeroTime, Feb 2026; BlackJet (broker), May 2026 |
| Very light twin | HondaJet Elite II | $6.95 million at launch | Not published | AvWeb, Oct 2022 |
| Light jet | Embraer Phenom 300E | $12.9 million nominal; open slots above $14 million | $6 million to $8 million (2010 to 2013 Phenom 300); $9.5 million to $12 million (2018 to 2020 300E) | Aviation Week, Feb 2025; jetAVIVA (broker), Aug 2025 |
| Midsize | Embraer Praetor 500 | $20.6 million | Not published | Aviation Week, Feb 2025 |
| Super-midsize | Embraer Praetor 600 | $24 million | Not published | Aviation Week, Feb 2025 |
| Super-midsize | Bombardier Challenger 3500 | About $27.2 million average (12-jet order at 2023 list prices, our division) | Not published | Bombardier, Dec 22, 2023 |
| Large cabin | Gulfstream G650 (out of production) | Sold at around $70 million until 2017 | $30 million to $40 million | Jet Match via Corporate Jet Investor, Apr 2026 |
| Ultra-long-range | Gulfstream G700 | $82 million | About $80 million quoted for G700 or G800 | Aviation Week, Feb 2025; Corporate Jet Investor, Apr 2026 |
| Ultra-long-range | Gulfstream G800 | $71.5 million projected in 2022; $73.5 million in 2025 | Not published | Flying, Jun 2022; Corporate Jet Investor, Oct 2025 |
| Ultra-long-range | Bombardier Global 8000 | About $78 million at launch | Not published | AvWeb, May 2022 |
Two notes on the numbers. The Aviation Week figures come from the 2025 Purchase Planning Handbook, which does not state a pricing year for each model. And the Challenger 3500 figure is arithmetic, not a stated price: Bombardier valued a firm order for 12 aircraft at US$326.4 million based on 2023 list prices, which works out to an average of about $27.2 million per aircraft. An order value can bundle options and support, so read it as an order of magnitude, not a sticker price.
What Moves the Price
New vs Used
A new jet is a delivery slot as much as an aircraft. The jetAVIVA market report, published in August 2025, said open Phenom 300E positions were priced above $14 million, tied to inflation escalation and the scarcity of near-term slots, with deliveries stretching into the first quarter of 2028. That is well above the $12.9 million Aviation Week listed in February 2025.
Used pricing rewards age and condition, but it can also invert when new jets are scarce. Jet Match CEO Luiz Sandler told Corporate Jet Investor in April 2026 that only one G650 was for sale out of a fleet of 592, and that discounts, which ran 4% to 5% the year before, were “essentially zero”. He described a 2014 G650 listed at $35 million that sold at asking price. Scarcity, not just age, sets the used price.
On the light end, the jetAVIVA report separates Phenom 300s by generation: early 2010 to 2013 aircraft at $6 million to $8 million, 2018 to 2020 Phenom 300Es at $9.5 million to $12 million, and the enhanced 300E at $12 million to $13.5 million. Those are a broker’s market read, not a price list.
Options and Interior
The base price buys an aircraft, not your cabin. BlackJet noted in May 2026 that the Vision Jet G3 has a base price of about $3.6 million but is frequently quoted at $3.68 million as equipped. That is a small gap on a small jet. On a large-cabin jet, seating, galley, bedroom and entertainment choices move the invoice by much more, and nobody publishes a typical figure, so we do not put a number on it. Ask any seller for the price of a specific completed layout. For what cabins look like at each level, see our guide to the private jet interior.
Delivery Slots
Manufacturers sell production positions years ahead on the larger models. When Corporate Jet Investor reported the first Gulfstream G800 delivery to a customer in August 2025, the aircraft carried a $73.5 million price tag, against the $71.5 million Flying quoted as a projected starting price when the G800 first flew in June 2022. The model’s own Gulfstream G800 price page has the detail. Price escalation between order and delivery is the part buyers most often miss.
The Cheapest Private Jets to Buy
If your question is “what is the cheapest private jet I can buy”, the answer is a single-engine or very light twin, not a midsize.
- Cirrus Vision Jet G3. About $3.6 million base, per AeroTime in February 2026. The Vision Jet is single-engine, and BlackJet put 2016 to 2025 used examples between roughly $1.8 million and $3.6 million in May 2026, so a used one is the lowest entry price to a jet on this page.
- HondaJet Elite II. AvWeb reported in October 2022 that Honda would price it at $6.95 million, with a range of 1,547 nautical miles. Honda does not publish a current list price, so ask the company for one.
- Embraer Phenom 300E. At $12.9 million nominal (Aviation Week, February 2025) it is not cheap, but it is the light-jet reference point, and it is the one with a deep used market.
Other light jets, such as the Citation M2, sit between these two. Our Cessna Citation price page covers the Citation range, and the best private jets under $20 million ranks the jets in this bracket.
The Most Expensive Private Jets
At the top of the business-jet range, three models sit in the same narrow band. Aviation Week listed the Gulfstream G700 at $82 million in February 2025. Corporate Jet Investor reported a $73.5 million price tag for the G800 in October 2025. AvWeb reported in May 2022 that Bombardier would list the Global 8000 at about $78 million. Compare the individual pages: Gulfstream G800 price and Bombardier Global 8000 price.
Above that you leave the business-jet category and buy a converted airliner. Bizliner deals are negotiated airframe by airframe, with the VIP cabin often costing as much as the aircraft, so there is no single price to quote. For the size of those aircraft, see the biggest private jets in the world.
How Much Does a Private Jet Cost to Run
The purchase price is the smaller number over time. Fuel, crew, hangar, insurance, maintenance programs and depreciation arrive whether or not the jet flies, and they are the reason many buyers end up chartering or using a jet card instead. We cover that in full in the cost of owning a private jet, so it is not repeated here.
Ask any seller for a written budget of annual fixed and variable costs for the exact aircraft before you commit, and compare it with what the same hours would cost on a charter or jet card.

If You Mean Renting
Many people who search “how much is a private jet” want to fly, not own. Renting is priced per hour or per trip, and it starts at a tiny fraction of the numbers above. Our private jet charter cost guide has hourly rates by aircraft class, and jet card cost covers prepaid hours. Browse the overview at private jets if you are still deciding.
Charter is also the cheaper way to test which class you actually need before you spend eight figures. A family that flies six hours a month rarely needs the range of a G700, and a charter record of your real trips tells you more than any brochure does.
How to Read a Reported Price
Three kinds of number circulate, and they are not interchangeable. A list price is what the manufacturer charges for a base aircraft: Bombardier’s order value of US$326.4 million for 12 Challenger 3500s, “based on 2023 list prices”, is that kind of figure. An asking price is what a seller hopes for, and the broker figures in the table (BlackJet, jetAVIVA) are market reads of that kind. A sold price is what changed hands, and it is the rarest to find in public.
Jet Match’s Luiz Sandler gave Corporate Jet Investor a useful anchor in April 2026: until 2017, G650s sold at full price, around $70 million, and he argued that a $70 million price from ten years earlier would be almost $100 million today once adjusted for consumer prices. That is his estimate, but it explains why a used G650 at $30 million to $40 million and a new G700 at roughly $80 million are not a like-for-like comparison.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How much does it cost to buy a private jet?

- How much is a private jet used?
- It depends on class and scarcity. BlackJet put used Vision Jets at $1.8 million to $3.6 million in May 2026. jetAVIVA put used Phenom 300Es at $9.5 million to $12 million in August 2025. A Jet Match executive told Corporate Jet Investor in April 2026 that a G650 at $30 million to $40 million is strong value.
- What is the cheapest private jet to buy?
- The cheapest new jet is the single-engine Cirrus Vision Jet G3, at a base price of around $3.6 million (AeroTime, February 2026).
