What you find inside a private jet depends on one thing: the cabin class. In a light jet such as the Embraer Phenom 300, the cabin is about 4 ft 11 in tall, so you sit rather than walk. In a super-midsize jet such as the Bombardier Challenger 3500, the cabin is 6 ft 0 in tall and you can stand. Step up to a Gulfstream G700 and the cabin is 56 ft 11 in long, with up to five living areas.

This guide takes each class in turn, with the maker’s own cabin numbers, then covers layouts, the features that matter on a long flight, and what custom interiors involve. For the price side of the biggest cabins, see the Gulfstream G700 price and Gulfstream G650 price pages.

Inside a Private Jet by Cabin Size

Cabin size is the single best predictor of what a private jet interior offers. The table below uses manufacturer figures wherever we could open them.

Cabin length excludes the baggage compartment for Bombardier and Gulfstream. Lavatory details are published for only some models, so we give them in the sections below.

Very Light and Light Jets

The smallest jets trade space for cost. The Phenom 300, the most-delivered light jet for 13 straight years through 2024 according to GAMA data reported by Aviation International News, has a cabin about 4.9 ft tall, per Private Jet Card Comparisons, which is why passengers do not stand. Expect club seating, a small refreshment area and a lavatory that is either enclosed or a belted seat, depending on the model.

If you are weighing the price of that class, see the Phenom 300 price.

Midsize and Super-Midsize Jets

This is where standing room starts. Bombardier lists the Challenger 3500 at 6 ft 0 in high and 25 ft 2 in long, seating up to 10, with a divan that can be made up as a bed, a separate lavatory with a sink and mirror, and a galley and wardrobe at the entrance. The cabin altitude is about 4,850 ft at a 41,000 ft cruise, per Bombardier, who compares it to ground level in Denver.

Large Cabin and Ultra Long Range Jets

Dassault lists the Falcon 6X cabin at 40.3 ft long, 102 in wide and 78 in high, with 30 windows and a skylight. Gulfstream’s G700 is 56 ft 11 in long and 8 ft 2 in wide with 20 oval windows and a cabin altitude of 2,840 ft at 41,000 ft. Bombardier’s Global 8000 is 54 ft 5 in long with four living spaces. At this size the cabin is divided into rooms, with a crew rest area and a full galley.

Bizliners: ACJ and BBJ

A bizliner is an airliner fitted as a private jet. Airbus lists the ACJ TwoTwenty at 73 square meters (786 sq ft) of floor area, split into six zones of about 12 square meters each, with a range of 5,650 nautical miles. Boeing’s BBJ line fills the same role. When it launched the BBJ MAX 8 in 2012, Boeing projected a range of 6,325 nautical miles, a figure it said was still to be validated in flight test, and said the cabin was 19 feet longer than the BBJ 2’s.

Charter is the only way most readers will use a bizliner, and it is the one place a booking partner fits.

Private Jet Interior Layouts

The same cabin can be furnished several ways. These are the four layouts you will see on a floor plan.

Club Four

Seats arranged facing each other around tables. Bombardier’s Challenger 3500 page describes an executive club configuration.

Divan

A sofa that seats three and can convert into a berth. Bombardier lists a 3-place berthable divan on both the Challenger 3500 and the Global 8000.

Conference

A dedicated meeting zone. The Global 8000 floor plan lists a Conference area as one of its named zones.

Stateroom

A private room with a full-size bed. Bombardier lists a full-size bed in the Principal suite of the Global 8000. For more on which jets offer beds, read our guide to private jets with beds.

Luxury Private Jet Interior Features

Showers

A shower is a layout option on the biggest jets, not a given. Bombardier lists an optional stand-up shower in the Global 8000 en suite. Business Jet Traveler describes the G700’s aft lavatory in the Grand Suite as having an optional stand-up shower.

Galleys and Crew Rest

Bombardier describes the Global 8000 kitchen as the industry’s largest. The Challenger 3500 has a galley at the entrance. Business Jet Traveler describes the G700 with a forward galley built around a 10-foot countertop and, opposite it, either a three-place divan or an optional crew rest area.

Connectivity

Satellite connectivity varies by aircraft and by the operator’s chosen system. The Global 8000 page lists an optional 55-inch 4K TV and the l’Opéra audio system, and the Challenger 3500 lists a 24-inch display and wireless chargers. Ask the operator which system is installed on the specific aircraft you are booking.

Cabin Altitude

Cabin altitude is the pressure you feel at cruise, and a lower number is easier on the body. These are the published figures at a 41,000 ft cruise:

Custom Private Jet Interiors

The cabin you see in a brochure is a floor plan. Buyers of new jets choose seating, finishes, bed layouts and entertainment with the maker or a completion center.

Completion Centers

Large aircraft, including bizliners, are often “green” when delivered and fitted out by a specialist completion center. Aviation Week reported that Jet Aviation Basel finished a green Boeing Business Jet 2 with a full exterior repaint and a head-of-state interior seating 31 passengers and eight crew. In a 2017 release, Comlux said it had signed to complete the interior of an Airbus ACJ320neo at its Indianapolis facilities, with Airbus due to deliver the aircraft unfinished, or “green.”

Time and Cost

Comlux said in August 2017 that the ACJ320neo completion was expected to take approximately 10 months. We found no completion cost that we can attribute to a trade publication we opened, so we do not print one. Ask the completion center for a written schedule and price before you sign.

Standout Cabins: G700, Global 8000, Falcon 6X

Gulfstream G700

The G700 has the longest cabin of the three, at 56 ft 11 in, with up to five living areas and seating for 19 and sleeping for 13, per Gulfstream. Prices and options are covered on the Gulfstream G700 price page.

Bombardier Global 8000

Bombardier describes four living spaces, a full-size bed in the Principal suite, a 3-place berthable divan in the Entertainment suite and a cabin altitude of 2,691 ft. The range is 8,000 nautical miles. See the Bombardier price list.

Dassault Falcon 6X

The Falcon 6X is 6 ft 6 in high and 8 ft 6 in wide, the tallest cabin in this group, with 30 windows and a skylight, per Dassault. It seats 12 to 16 and has a range of 5,500 nautical miles with eight passengers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is inside a private jet?
A private jet usually has leather or fabric seats, a few tables, a galley or refreshment area and a lavatory. Larger jets add a divan, a conference zone and a bedroom. The size of the cabin decides what fits: a light jet is about 4 ft 11 in tall, a large jet over 6 ft.
Do private jets have bathrooms?
Most do, but the type varies. Bombardier lists a lavatory with a sink and mirror on the Challenger 3500, and an optional stand-up shower in the Global 8000 en suite. The smallest jets may have a basic enclosed or belted seat, so check the floor plan.
Can you stand up in a private jet?
It depends on the jet. A Phenom 300 cabin is about 4 ft 11 in tall, per Private Jet Card Comparisons, so you cannot. A Challenger 3500 is 6 ft 0 in, a Gulfstream G700 6 ft 3 in and a Dassault Falcon 6X 6 ft 6 in, per the makers.
Which private jet has the best interior?
There is no single answer, but the largest cabins are the Gulfstream G700 at 56 ft 11 in with up to five living areas and the Global 8000 at 54 ft 5 in with a full-size bed. The best choice depends on trip length and passenger count.
How much does a custom jet interior cost?
Published figures vary widely and often date from years ago, so there is no reliable single number. Cost depends on the aircraft, the finishes and the completion center. Ask for a written, itemized quote from the completion center before signing.
